Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her first EP, Pho on October 21 2016, was released on Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her first mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, including her self-released single Bound. The 21st of July, 2015 was the day she was featured on Omen's album Elephant Eyes on the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole had her submit her tracks for the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. She officially was signed to Dreamville Records on 8 December. The record Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat with Cozz. In October 2016 she dropped her debut EP Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opening act for the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter appeared on two tracks by EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. The music video later released in September. Her second single Grampa on November 9. Two additional singles were also released by her on 11/13 Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made an appearance on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February, the video music for this track debuted. The track has garnered over three million YouTube views in just a single week. In December of 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
